| | First-hand.. not Petaling Street one..
Lets see.. Went to bed yesterday evening at 5.30pm after doing some homework. Guess what ? I slept through until this morning ! YES ! SKIPPED DINNER ! WOOHOOOO !!! But of course kena marah by mom la this morning. Heh. Woke up this morning about 7am. Had good GOOD shower and started ironing clothes. Yea, ironing clothes is my responsibility at home. Once a week chore. But i've got one week load of clothes for 4 humans whose clothes (most of them) need ironing. So yea. Its a mountain high. Serious one. So yea lor. Was ironing clothes and this question just strike me out of nowhere.
"What if one day, just like any other normal day, you are involved in an accident which leaves your lower half of your body gone ? "
Then i started tearing. No, i'm not being emotional nor am i thinking too much. But yea la. Scared. Cos its like your whole life will then be turned upside down and doubts will of course start to pour in which will eventually lead to doubts about God's work in your life..yada yada... But this entry is not about that question. I'l blog about that another time. Yea, 2 hours in front of the ironing board, i locked myself in the room and did my devotion la.
Was reading Acts 17:11 Paul and Silas was sent by the believers to Berea. And the Bereans were eager to hear what Paul & Silas said and studied the Scriptures every day to find out if these things [ what Paul and Silas taught ] was true.
The Bereans were, I suppose, DESPERATE and CURIOUS because they were " eager to hear " and they "studied the Scriptures everyday ".
Its the Berean lifestyle that we should learn and live once we get to know Him.
With the grace and experience that we have in Him, we know that all these things that we say, we do, we believe, we hear, we reason with.. all of these are not just in our heads ! We know that its not our minds that made it up nor it is the imagination that we have. It's not the "I think" attitude that we have but the "I believe".
In Acts 9 : 17 - 23, Saul who was blind, now can see ! And the next few verses tells us that he went telling the people about Him.
Saul had the FIRST-HAND experience which enabled him to preach and with the proofs that he has, the people in Damascus could not argue with him !
We all know that the last few verses in Matthew calls us to spread the Good News around. But most of us, i believe, are clueless about this right ? Even i am ! But after reading that verses in Acts, i know now what i need to do before i could actually go on further into evangelism. I need to know what my FIRST-HAND experience is before even doing ANYTHING at all ! This includes serving and all that..
Read 2 Peter 1 : 16. They had their FIRST-HAND experience ! They ate, walked, talked, questioned, listened and did a whole lot of other stuff with Jesus HIMSELF ! They know that their first-hand experience is not a fake and they are not being lied to. They "saw the greatness of Jesus with their own eyes" !!!!
From the time when He was beaten, mocked at and carried the wooden cross that He has to be nailed to, they mourned for Him. And when He breathed His last breath, they went down on their knees and later took him down that wooden cross that evening. They were at despair at their death!
They then buried him in a tomb, covered the mouth of the tomb with a big rock and found nothing but white cloth used to wrap his body when they went to investigate what the women [ Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary Mother of James and other women ] had said to them three days later.
This is part of their first-hand story.
Do you have one ?
Ps: Preparing for sabbatical break. 10 days to go ! Woohoo ! In the mean time, i WILL refrain from logging into MSN. Gmail sudah cukup. Sms me if there's anything important. Pray for my missing keys and Darren Ong's teeth. His blog link is at the side of my blog. Toodles people !
